Having problems getting my calendar and contact book connected to the account on my iMac. Cal and Carddav on my iPhone work without issues though.
Any one have tips? I searched the forum and read the kbase but didnt see anything mentioning different settings for use with my iMac vs an iPhone or iPad.

Can you describe the problem in more detail? We believe iMac should display detailed error description when it's unable to access calendars/contacts via DAV.
Also, just in case if your client attempts to connect to port 8008, reconfigure client to use port 80 and see if that helps.

When I try to add the calendar I get this error:

Even if I manage to get to the next screen I get this error no matter if I use the mobile sync URL or the Caldav URL (the one listed under settings for my user account)

And to clarify again, the calendar and contact sync on my iPhone works perfect. I tested the caldav URL connection in Mozilla Thunderbird (on a Windows desktop)and was able to get it working there so I know the server must be configured correctly.

Both the links seem to be broken. I'd suggest to upload screenshots on some image hosting web service and post links to those here.
