In upcoming WebMail Pro 6.0, we are replacing Flash-based uploader with AJAX-based one which seems to be more stable.

Pro 6? Is there a roadmap of what's going to be in it? Any broad launch date?

It was planned for release till the end of January, so Monday seems to be the
answer, if nothing gets changed. With regard to what will be there, here's the
brief insight:

- AdminPanel is rewritten from scratch;
- totally new screen of user account settings;
- modern AJAX-based file uploader instead of Flash-based one;
- separate MySQL master/slave (read/write) MySQL;
- reading/composing mail in new tab/window by pressing Shift;
- Print and Save tools in preview pane;
- window/tab "New Messages" icon with number of new messages displayed;
- instead of full reload, message list is dynamically updated after
deleting/moving mails;
- quota indicator is back in 3-view pane.

Some of the features are removed, including:
- Advanced Login mode, along with ability to create "out of domain" user;
- Synchronization modes (IMAP: Direct Mode only; POP3: Entire Messages only);
- Selecting default charset, only UTF-8 is used;
- MS Access support for ASP.NET edition; MS SQL support for PHP edition.

Thanks for the update. Do you know why these two items have been removed?

Will v6 erase the existing data of "out of domain" users created in v5?

Can you write somewhere the program version, or changelog, into download page?
In this way, i know if there'is a new version without whenever download the file.

We actually do post the latest version number at download page (check the right column), the
problem is those numbers are not always the same for PHP and ASP.NET editions, thus the information
on web page is only updated from time to time. Once 6.0 is out we'll change the info of course.

According to product managers, v5 -> v6 upgrade will not be immediately available
after v6 release. The recommended option is to setup the new installation from
scratch.

Is this about ASP.NET or PHP edition?

Recheck that the data folder has full write permissions set for it.

Try the Pro 6.0 version, does the new uploader work for you?

I'm using PHP version and have installed it as embedded on my cPanel so don't
really want to install the pro version as cannot afford a license for more than 5
users :)

I see. The question about permissions still applies though.

We are going to release 6.0 version of Lite edition, but currently there's no telling when this will happen.

Hello Igor,

I´m sorry to say, but I can´t attach files in 6.0 PHP. They are "visually" uploaded and attached to the mail, but the mail is sent without attachement. Sadly the logs show no evidence.

This file uploader is our really recent adoption and there might be some issues with it. To solve them,
we need as many details about the problem and the environment as possible: operating system and web
browser used, steps to ensure correct data folder permissions etc.

OS: OpenSuSe 11.3 with Apache, MySQL
Browser: Firefox 3.6.13
Data Folder Permissions: 666 / 777 (Files, Folder)

What else do you need ? And where to find it ?

Hi Ivan,

I am having similar problems - I could not upload under the previous version, and it persists now (with unknown error occurred).

I am running Firefox 3.6.13 running on linux (apache and mysql).

data folder is 777.

When uploading it looks like the I have done some playing around and seeing where it fails - it seems to trip up on this in fileuploader.php (save function, for xmlhttprequest).

        if (false !== $this->oTempFiles->SaveFileFromStream($sTempName, $temp))
           {
                $this->generateSuccesArray( $sTempName);
                return true;
           }
           return false;

I have also checked some of the variables that are created in the save() function:

$temp = resourceID #66 (it always seems to be this)

$realSize = 359080 (the correct size of the file)

$sTempName = XhrUpl_49c131a145cle7491bb30a73c5032929

I have also changed the path of $temp to a file in "data" ($temp = "data/file.jpg" and it creates the file correctly - it seems it is writing files OK initially (so perms are OK on the data folder) then falling over on savefilefromstream.

Do you have any ideas why this will be the case?

To troubleshoot this, I think you'll need to take a deeper look into what's going on inside SaveFileFromStream
function defined in common/call_tempfiles.php file (line ~178). See if $filename holds the right value,
and what value is returned by stream_copy_to_stream function call. I'd suggest to remove error suppressors
(@ characters prior to function names) for better debugging.

Based on customers' feedback, looks like there are problems specific for Linux-based operating systems,
and we're going to investigate them.

Hi Ivan,

It "may" be a configuration issue on my server however I have removed the @ from two of the functions - in both cases it is an error opening a file:

$target = @fopen($fileName, 'wb');

$size = @stream_copy_to_stream($rFileStream, $target);

The first error is unable to access, the second is unable to open stream - error below.

/var/www/vhosts/mydomain.com/httpdocs/webmail/data/temp/i/in fo@mydomain.com.1/48d2aa99666745dc49fe54216bc60f64/XhrUpl_mo rerandomcharacters in <b>/var/www/vhosts/mydomain/.com/httpdocs/webmail/comm on/class_tempfiles.php</b> on line 183

The data and data/temp directories are 777 as are the directories off temp (data/temp/d, data/temp/i, data/temp/j etc). However the directory for the email address (data/temp/i/info@mydomain.com.1) is created with 755 (rwx r-x r-x) for apache/apache.

Thanks,

Simon

Looks like the error messages themselves are missing from your post. And BTW, did
you check if the referenced file actually in place?

Hi Igor,

I think it is a file permission problem.
/var/www/vhosts/mydomain.com/httpdocs/webmail/data/temp/i/in fo@mydomain.com.1
is created as 755. The temp directories and file within that are not created.

I have tried changing the permissions but have been unable to as it is a shared server... however if I delete the file and recreate it through the plesk admin panel it is owned by my userid, not apache, and I run into safe mode problems. However the temporary directory IS created, but the file for the attachment is not written to disk (fails on safe mode).

I will ask my hosting company to either change permissions to 777 on the info@mydomain.com.1 directory or turn off safe mode, as a temporary fix.
