Hi Guys...
I have just setup Webmail Lite without any problem.
I am running on a new instalation of Centos 6.
I am using SENDMAIL (no comments please - it's historic)
I already have catchall email accounts setup.
How can I login to read my emails ???
The login screen is asking for a qualified email address.
How do I setup new email accounts ?
Any advice please.

For that, you need to have IMAP or POP3 server running on your system (Courier, Dovecot, Cyrus, Axigen, etc). Alternately, you can connect to your accounts found on existing mail services like GMail. All you need to do in WebMail is to configure incoming/outgoing mail hostnames and ports.

I have Dovecot running which gives me IMAP and POP3 servers.
My users can login and receive mail with outlook express, or any other mail client.
The mail server is setup with POP3 and IMAP and will receive mail from either.
The problem that I'm having is that my users logon with their username and password.
Webmail Lite will not accept a username. It demands a qualified email address. e.g. mail@mydomain.com
Whereas my users login with login: mydomain and password: password
How do I get round this ???
Thanks,
John C

You can configure login page by setting a number of options in data/settings/settings.xml file, this documentation page is about WebMail Pro but most of the settings would apply to Lite as well; check LoginFormType and few subsequent options.

Hi Igor...
Thanks for your help.
However, I have been toying with this for hours and I'm getting nowhere.
Here is a snip of the settings.xml:
Code:
<AllowLanguageOnLogin>On</AllowLanguageOnLogin>
<FlagsLangSelect>Off</FlagsLangSelect>
<LoginFormType>Login</LoginFormType>
<UseLoginAsEmailAddress>Off</UseLoginAsEmailAddress>
<LoginAtDomainValue />
<DefaultDomainValue />
<UseAdvancedLogin>Off</UseAdvancedLogin>
<UseCaptcha>Off</UseCaptcha>
<UseReCaptcha>Off</UseReCaptcha>
<AllowNewUsersRegister>Off</AllowNewUsersRegister>
<AllowUsersAddNewAccounts>Off</AllowUsersAddNewAccounts>
<AllowIdentities>Off</AllowIdentities>
|
|
|
Now when I try and login I get:
Quote:
Domain name not specified |
|
|
I am using sendmail on Centos 6.3, with dovecot giving me imap.
My users, around 50, have mailboxes at /var/mail/mailbox
Each user has a user account and password, with a home directory.
If they have a web site, the home directory is:
/home/username.co.uk
If they just have a POP account the home directory is:
/home/pop/username (without a domain)
Using Outlook Express (or whatever):
server settings are:
login: username
passwd: password
POP3 on port 110 or IMAP on port 143
When logging in the username is checked and the path to the mailbox is determined.
i.e. /var/mail/mailbox
Can you suggest what I am doing wrong ???
Thanks,
John C

That configuration wouldn't work I'm afraid, as username and password isn't enough: WebMail needs to know what the email address looks like. There are two ways for that: either supply email address explicitly, or make some @domain added to username.

Hi Igor..
Thanks for your reply.

This is what I suspected.
I think that I may have misunderstood what webmail lite is for.
I was under the impression that it could be used for multiple domains.
If I add the @domain to the setup, it can only be used for pne domain.
Am I right ???
Best regards,
John C

WebMail Lite can be used for multiple domains indeed. But in case if you don't want to (or can't, for any reason) supply full email address, you'll only be able to use one domain.
