Hi!
Every times I try to send an email I got an error:
incoming: pop.1and1.com SSL port 993 (I tried non-SSL port 110)
out: smtp.1and1.com SSL port 587 (I tried SSL port 25, non-SSL port 587 and 25 too).
I tried every 'solutions' that support of host could offer me... without success
Maybee someone can have another idea ?
Thanks!!
error log:

If I remember this correctly, 1and1 SMTP service does not require authentication, so try unchecking the SMTP auth box and see if that helps.

I've exactly the same Problem with SMTP and 1&1; I've tried as well all setting-options and "no authentication" at last without success.
[22:29:06.36] [SMTP] Connecting to server smtp.1und1.de on port 25
[22:29:12.36] [SMTP] Error: Connection refused
I had the smtp-problems using Roundcube Webmail as well and I solved it using "PHP mail" instead of SMTP and worked well.
Has anybody an idea / solution meanwhile?
The SMTP Settings are just like supported by 1&1 (http://hilfe-center.1und1.de/hosting/email/1.html)
Thanks in advance

Found hardly a solution and works now:
- Hostname outside 1und1 Hosting: smtp.1und1.de
- Hostname within 1und1 Hosting: smtp.kundenserver.de
AND No authentication

Thanks for letting us know! That particular service is quite popular, so I think this might be really helpful for other users.
