Hello,
since a few days I always get an Error 403 when I try to open any attachment. Uploading attachments and saving drafts with attachments does work. But after I uploaded it, I can not open it. It's always Error 403. Does anyone have a clue?
Thanks in advance!
Bernhard

Maybe permissions have been changed in the filesystem?
If you try to have a separate new installation following all the installation instructions, does the problem reproduce there?
Regards,
Alex

Thank you for your answer. To be honest: I don't know. I did not change anything. But there was a server update a week or two ago. I installed the new version and it is still the same. I guess the program loads the attachment directly from the mailbox - is this correct? So I think changing the chmod-settings will not have an influence.

Yes, attachments are always taken directly from the mail server. You can enable debug logging in WebMail Pro Admin Panel / System / Logging, reproduce the issue and examine the log for errors then. Examining the log file of the web server may also be helpful.

Alex

When clicking on the attachment where the 403 appears:
[log removed]
when opening the webmail:
[log removed]
the server logs are clean

According to the logs, it looks like VERSION file in root directory of WebMail cannot be found. Can you please confirm if it's actually there and it has read permissions set for it? Thank you.

I removed it before. But I added it again. It has no influence on the problem. In the previous installed version the problem was also there. But only within the last weeks.

Upon placing the file back, are there any PHP notices or errors in web server logs?

In that case, unfortunately, there's no way for us to suggest anything.

Okay, the technician of my shared webhosting responded to me (my translation to english):
"[...] the problem is one of our security systems: suhosin. i asked if we can do something from our side regarding this issue, but unfortunately we cant change any settings. Thats why I need to forward you to the producer of your software. Probably he has got a solution for the problem. Unfortunately we can not offer any solution. The use of Suhosin on a shared webhost is not exceptional. [...]"
Does this help you?

Well, that basically confirms that the problem is with PHP environment, not with the product. If the file permissions are correct but webserver doesn't allow for retrieving the file, there's no workaround possible here, I'm afraid. And while suhosin is rather common, it's usually configurable, just not in case of shared hosting.

Yes. Well, they changed the suhosin settings for me. But there are still difficulties. They say that the names of the GET-Variables are too long to be accepted by suhosin. Is there a possibility to shorten the names of the variables for the attachments?

Yes that's possible but we're talking of substantial custom development rather than a simple fix here. If you're interested in ordering one, please use this form to proceed.

I am also a programer and I could fix it myself I think. I will have a look on the code soon. But thank you for the offer.
