Hi - I have started receiving the following messages on my server when attempting to retreive emails...
Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a01fb'
An exception occurred: 'RetrieveSingleMessage'
/get_mail.asp, line 142
This does not appear to occur on all mailboxes, just on specific ones where the issue reoccurs.
There are about 100 new messages (if you log in via pop3) but the webmail states "retreiving 1 of 7" with the above message.
Other times it doesn't give the error but simply takes hours to receive the messages (Retrieving message #1 of 7 = 30 mins, 200kb message, Retrieving message #2 of 7 = 40 mins, 187kb message, etc).
Other addresses do not seem to be affected.
Do you have any idea what could cause this?

Please contact us from e-mail address you used to purchase WebMail Pro, and we'll send you the latest version of the package. Please let us know if upgrading to the latest version helps.

Could you please also attach that 74-th message to your reply as .EML file (you may receive it with Outlook Express and save it into .EML file) so that we would be able to parse it with MailBee here?
Thanks in advance and best regards,
Alex

Could you please install special debug version of MailBee.dll at http://www.afterlogic.com/updates/mailbee_debug.zip and try again?
This version will create detailed log of MailBee internal activity in C:\mailbee_debug.txt file. This log might help us to find out what causes the problem on your system (unfortunately, on all our servers test mail you sent works fine).
Regards,
Alex

Yes, that's right, the error will not disappear with the debug version. We're interested in C:\mailbee_debug.txt file it creates. This is NOT the same log which is created by WebMail. It's internal log which provides some additional technical information about how MailBee processes received messages.
If C:\mailbee_debug.txt didn't appear on your machine after you've tried to get mail, make sure Internet Guest User is allowed to create files in the root of disk C, and retry.
Regards,
Alex

I am unable to find this file - are specific permissions required to write this file?
A similar issue is now occuring on another server using the mailbee webmail (it was all going so well until then too, alas).

You may do the following:
- Download and install http://www.afterlogic.com/updates/mailbee_debug.zip
- create empty C:\mailbee_debug.txt
- assign full control for Internet Guest User to access this file
- now try to get mail in WebMail to populate both logs with some data. WebMail log should contain "5.4.0.57D" as version number. "D" means this is a debug version which also writes into C:\mailbee_debug.txt.
BTW, is there a chance we could get remote desktop access to the server for a while so we would be able to quickly find out and fix the issue in place? If this is affordable for you, please email us how we can access the server at support@afterlogic.com.
Without direct access to the server, it might take several iterations (including reinstallations of a number of debug MailBee versions) in order to find out the source of the problem since this issue cannot be reproduced on our systems.
BTW, have you checked Windows event log for unusual errors or warnings? Maybe something is just misconfigured, and the problem occurs due to the reason not directly related to MailBee itself (like out of memory, etc.)
Regards,
Alex

hmm, I managed to get the debug version working and the error went away - I put the original dll back and it still worked so not sure what is going on...
whether it is just a random thing or what.
We have so many accounts using this that it is bound to crop up again so will let you know.
