Hello,
Is there any thought of setting up a configuration for synchronizing with an existing, external Funambol server hosted elsewhere? Like the IMAP service I am connecting to, the SyncML service runs on an external server. I would like to use WebMail as a front-end to both of these services, but it appears that you have to install WebMail on the same database as the Funambol service, which doesn't work for my configuration.
I would appreciate any thoughts you have on this configuration. Thank you.

In current implementation of SyncML support in WebMail Pro, both Funambol server and WebMail Pro should be using the same database. Considering this, using some external Funambol server isn't an option.

What is interesting about the shared-database implementation is that you have to run the Funambol server against the same database as WebMail Pro. WebMail Pro has the ability to easily be run on any shared-host web hosting service. Funambol requires the Tomcat application server, which many (all I've used) shared-host web hosting services won't run. What this means is that you have a great/flexible front-end implementation for IMAP/POP3/SMTP services, but you can't do the same thing (front-end) a SyncML service.
For clarity, the original question was is there a possibility or interest in developing your WebMail Pro front-end as a regular SyncML client? This would be instead of using the table copy setup with a shared database. What it would take is the use of the PHP library to connect to the SyncML service and exchange XML data with it. The WebMail Pro side would also need to be able to parse vCard and iCal format data that is sent in the XML structure.
I would find it useful, as Funambol is the main sync point for various third-party clients to our service. Without some way to sync contact data with the existing service, WebMail Pro isn't as useful out of the box as it could be -- we would need to implement some custom contact sync mechanism ourselves.

I guess this can be re-phrased "are you planing to add support of syncing with caldav and carddav servers"?
And yes, we plan it, but not for the near future. This would be quite a big piece of functionality to develop.
