hi!

I use hmailserver and Afterlogic webmail asp.net in the same server with XP pro iis,and mysql database.
If I use an email client like mozilla thuntherbird in other pc and in other lan, the server works fine, but when i try to connect to my server via Afterlogic Webmail, I always get the same error:
Can't connect to POP3 server, check POP3 server settings.

Firewall and antivirus in the server are stopped. If I test the ports 25, 110 and 143 by telnet, the connections are succesfull.

Somebody can help me??

I understand you're using Lite version, correct?

The first thing to check is WebMail debug logging. You'll find detailed information on this at:

WebMail ASP.NET: logging as the main troubleshooting measure

Please note that you'll need to check E-mail protocols logging. Those logs contain communication between webmail client and mailserver, you should be able to find verbose error description there.

And of course, you need to verify server name and port specified in WebMail configuration.

You're testing that from the same machine WebMail ASP.NET is installed on, trying to connect to mail server you're using, correct?

Yes, I use Lite version.

I check the log file and the result is this:

[10:41:26.65] [INFO] Will resolve host "mail.domain.com".
[10:41:26.75] [INFO] Host "mail.domain.com" resolved to IP address(es) 1.1.1.1
[10:41:26.75] [INFO] Will connect to host "mail.domain.com" on port 110.
[10:41:27.85] [INFO] Error: Socket connection has been refused by remote host. InnerException message follows: No se ha podido establecer conexión ya que el equipo de destino ha denegado activamente dicha conexión 1.1.1.1:110

The telnet test was maked in other pc and in other lan where the server works.

Webmail and mail server (hmailserver) are in the same machine. I could try to connect with other mailserver (mdaemon) and conecction was succesfull.

That looks like server configuration issue, be sure to unlock port 110 on your server. If you're running WebMail on some hosting account, check with your host to make sure that you're allowed to access port 110 from scripts running on your hosting account.

It's important to do that from WebMail installation location.

I don't understand what is the problem. With this config in my email server I can send and receive mails with mozilla thunderbird, that use pop3 for request mails. for this reason i think that the ports are not locked, aren't you?

thanks for your attention

No. I am trying to say that ports are blocked on your hosting account or the machine WebMail is running on. That is not connected with using Mozilla Thunderbird - it's used on a different machine.

Well, at least I can try. But first I need answers to the following:

1) Do you have complete control over the machine WebMail is installed on? Are you allowed to tweak security settings etc., or you're using some hosting account?

2) Can you try accessing port 110 of your mail server from the same machine WebMail is installed on? What results do you have?

Ok,

i found the problem. The machine where my mailserver reside dont't resolve my mail.domain.com , for this reason always appear the error "Can't connect to POP3 server, check POP3 server settings".

Modifiying "hosts" file in the windows server the problem is solved.

Thanks a lot for your help

Jacob.
