Is the current folder (you're trying to search in) in Direct Mode? If so, search won't appear until you switch this folder to another sync mode because in Direct Mode, WebMail accesses messages directly on POP3 server without downloading them into the database, but it doesn't allow searching messages on server side.
Best regards,
Andrew

In theory, IMAP protocol has SEARCH function but this function is mostly useless in practice because it allows to search the encoded source of the message only. Since emails are usually encoded with base64, quoted-printable and other encodings, it does not make sense to search for actual content of emails - it will reliably work only for unencoded plain-text messages. Since it's can be guaranteed that this feature will always work properly, we decided to disable it for direct mode.
Regards,
Alex
