Hello,

i've recently installted WebmailPro and i've got a problem with SMTP-Authentication while sending mails ("Wrong username and/or password. Authentication failed." in Frontend, 504 Invalid Username or Password in Logfile).

The funny:

1) I added 2 users in the User management. Sending Mails works fine for User#1.

2) Sending Mails doesn't work for User#2.

3) Both users belong to the same Mailserver (it supports SMTP Auth).

4) Passwords are correct of course.

If i compare the debug logfiles of those users while trying to send a message i noticed that the name/password that is being sent is the same!

Here it is, User#1 (anonymized) - WORKS!

[11:25:39.28] [INFO] SMTP Hello completed.
[11:25:39.28] [INFO] Will login as "user1@test.de".
[11:25:39.28] [INFO] Will try SASL LOGIN authentication method.
[11:25:39.28] [SEND] AUTH LOGIN\r\n

[11:25:39.28] [SEND] ********\r\n
[11:25:39.28] [RECV] 334 SomeCryptedData\r\n
[11:25:39.28] [SEND] ********\r\n
[11:25:39.29] [RECV] 235 Authenticated\r\n
[11:25:39.29] [INFO] Logged in as "user1@test.de".

Here it is, User#2 (anonymized) - FAILS!

[11:34:28.65] [INFO] SMTP Hello completed.
[11:34:28.65] [INFO] Will login as "user2@test.de".

[11:34:28.70] [INFO] Error: The server has rejected authentication data sent by the client. The server responded: 504 Invalid Username or Password.

The Login&Password of User#2 is a different one, so I think the "SomeCryptedData" should be different too, or am i wrong here?

Could you provide us with credentials of both accounts and URL of your WebMail Pro installation and URL of WebMail Pro log file so that we would be able to check?
