It's not clear from the web site if WebMail Lite is still free after 30 days.
One page says it's free (no limit mentioned), one page says it's only a 30 day license.
Can somebody clarify? Thanks.

MailBee WebMail Lite itself (a set of scripts) is free. However, ASP and ASP.NET platforms have no built-in POP3 and mail message parsing functionality and thus it's required to install separate components for this. These components are shareware, with a trial period of 30 days.
On other hand, PHP platform does support POP3/IMAP and mail message parsing features via standard free PHP_IMAP library. Thus, no extra components is required for PHP edition of MailBee WebMail Lite.

what happens after the 30 day trial period.. does all mail send/receive functionality stop. Just thinking how fast i need to act to purchase the product after the trial expires ?

Yes, after 30-days trial period, MailBee WebMail Lite gets unlicensed and you won't be able to log into e-mail accounts through WebMail Lite to send or receive messages.

FYI - Windows 2003 does have a POP3 server. It can be installed via Add and Remove Programs, the same way as IIS or any other component

POP3 server is a different thing. With WebMail Lite (or Pro), it's not required to have a mail server on the server at all (for instance, you may use WebMail to access an account on a remote mail server).
However, you need a mail component which can access a POP3 server (regardless if it's remote or local one). The point is that neither ASP nor ASP.NET have built-in POP3 component (i.e. the component which implements client-side of the POP3 protocol and can make requests to POP3 servers, parse received emails, etc).

The PHP version of webmail lite supports IMAP?? This post by another member of mailbee tech support says quite the opposite.

WebMail Lite before version 4.0 was powered by PHP-IMAP library which supports POP3 and IMAP, but IMAP functionality was not implemented in Lite version. The current version of Lite is powered by our own POP3 engine which doesn't support IMAP. However, IMAP is supported in Pro version.
