Hello,

I have succeeded to install webmail lite, but now I cannot send email. When I try a error message pops up stating: "An error occured during sending the message".
This is the log of the error (I am using webmail lite to access my gmail account):

In addition, when I try to un-tick (as I see in other post)in the email account setting the box "use smtp auth" it does not seem to change anything (when I go back to the email account setting page, the use smtp auth is still ticked).
Here is the log of the change:

The log file doesn't contain anything about sending mails over SMTP, only about receiving those over IMAP - and that bit is fine, no errors reported in the logs. Be sure to clear logs before trying to send mail and turn logging off once error message is shown. Also, make sure you're using port 465 for SMTP and SSL box is ticked.

Thanks for your answer Igor.
However, I tried again:
- on the webmail interface, I go to new message;
- Then on the admin panel, I erase the debug log;
- on the webmail interface, I try to send an email. The error message appears;
- I retrieve the log, which is identical to the one I've sent you, without any reference to smtp.
For this webmail account:
outgoing server: smtp.gmail.com port 465 ssl activated
ingoing server: imap.gmail.com port 993 ssl activated

Do you have an idea?

The only suggestion I have at the moment is to check logs of Apache (or whatever web server is used) and PHP. Most probably, some server-side error is thrown when trying to send mails out.

Zgegman:

I had this same trouble. The issue was a missing php module. If memory serves, it was the php-xml module. I noticed the only error I had in my apache log files was something about DOM errors.

Igor:

Perhaps your installer should check for the presence of this package? I spent WAY too long trying to figure that one out.

Absolutely agreed, and I believe it will be checking that starting from version 7.1. Not sure if that helps in this particular case, but checking it might be worth a shot.
