Hello.

I am currently considering the MailBee.NET Objects for our web based outgoing
email solution for my clients but I would like to know if there are any dangers
of sending emails and more importantly how to prevent those dangers using the
client's credentials through our server.

My main concern is that allowing a significant number of users to send outgoing
mail originating from our server (using MailBee) with their SMTP servers and
account credentials can still cause our IP to become blacklisted. Is this a
reasonable concern even if we implement a limit of emails that can be sent at
one time? Are there other hazards?

If so is there a way to prevent this danger? Does AfterLogic provide any
protections, solutions or assistance when many users begin to send outgoing
mail? I don't want to implement a solution and then one user cause the entire
infrastructure to shut down.

If anyone else has any input I would not object to any advice!

The problem you describe is mostly handled on mail server level and has virtually
nothing to do with MailBee.NET or any webmail interface directly. Virtually any
modern mail server software allows for limiting rate of sending mail per
hour/day/etc., that's a common practice exercised by hosting providers. Of
course, you should also pay close attention to any abuse reports regarding email-
related activity originating from your system. Blacklisting is something that you
don't control directly but it's possible to minimize its chances by maintaining
mail server policy carefully.

Thanks for your reply.

Would the AntiSpam Component help minimize our chances of being blacklisted or is
that for incoming emails only?

I would like to implement an outgoing email solution for my clients but if there
is any chance of having our IP become blacklisted then I'm not sure if it would be
worth the risk.

While it's possible to use AntiSpam component to analyze outgoing mails, it is
mainly designed for dealing with incoming messages. Furthermore, AntiSpam
conponent can only analyze the message itself, so even if the message passes
antispam check, it would hardly help in case when million copies of that message
are sent out.

Yes there would be throttling used to prevent bulk emails.
