Out of nowhere a week or so back one of my users went to log in and couldn't. It says, "The username or password you entered is incorrect. (AuthError)" Unclear how recently she used the mail client before this.
I re-set her password on the server, she went to log in, and the same thing happens....so I went to log in and it happened for me as well. I upgraded to the most recent release (9.8.3) and still can't log in.
There are no error logs, which seems interesting.
Any suggestions?

The first thing to check is that you actually have logging enabled, and its verbosity is set to Debug, as shown at:
Debug logging as main troubleshooting measure
Also, it's important to ensure that the data directory permissions are set correctly and the webserver is able to write there.
Hope this helps. And if you manage to find the error in the logs, feel free to post it here and we'll take a look.
