Server 2022 - IIS - Windows.
Created a webmail directory in wwwroot. Gave the permissions to iusr.
Copied the files into the directory. Restarted IIs.
Get a 403 forbidden error.
The directions say to go to https://yourdomain.com/webmail/adminpanel/?install
I go there and get a 403 error. What is the defualt document I am supposed to use? How do I do the php? This all seems to be missing for the documentation. I see nowhere on what actually needs to be set. Dumping some files in a folder for IIS does not magically make a website.

Hello,
For a PHP web application like WebMail Pro PHP, default document would typically be index.php - so please try URL like this:
https://yourdomain.com/webmail/adminpanel/index.php?install
and see if that helps.

Once I added /index.php to the URL, the install page loaded correctly. I guess IIS just didn’t know what to serve by default without explicitly naming the file. Might need to tweak the default document list in IIS settings too.

Hello,
Please take a look at:
Configure the default document in Internet Information Services
Alternately, there's a detailed illustrated walkthrough at:
How to set Default Document for Website in IIS?
The specifics might slightly differ depending on IIS version you run but the general idea remains.
Hope this helps.

Okay, a 403 on your freshly baked webmail, huh? Permissions on IIS can be trickier than navigating a Slither io match with bad ping. Sounds like the default document isn't playing nice. I remember wrestling with a similar issue when trying to deploy a simple Node.js app. Turns out, I forgot to tell IIS what file to serve up first. It was a whole ordeal involving web.config and many frustrated sighs. Maybe check your handler mappings and default documents in IIS manager to see if PHP is properly configured.

Alright, IIS and webmail, a classic head-scratcher, isn't it? Seems like file permissions are giving you the silent treatment. Permission configurations and default documents; the rabbit hole deepens! Ah, the joy of web servers, right? I recall setting up a WordPress site once, and the .htaccess file was the bane of my existence; similar access denied issues until I figured out the rewrite rules. So frustrating! Shoutout to the drift hunters lurking who may know the solution to this problem! Maybe look into explicitly setting the default document in IIS and double-check that IUSR has read & execute on all relevant files and folders.
