Hello!

I am trying to manually install the Afterlogic mail client on Ubuntu 20.04 (x86_64). I have downloaded zip from https://afterlogic.org/webmail-lite. Afterlogic is located on the server here: /var/lib/afterlogic

I use the Hestia control panel. The problem is when I run http://XX.XXX.XX.XX/afterlogic/adminpanel to configure it, then I got the following error:

Page Not Found
Oops! We couldn’t find the page that you’re looking for.
Please check the address and try again.
Error Code: 404

I think, the webserver does not detect Afterlogic path. So, I need to provide it.
I have created the afterlogic.conf file and put it here: /etc/apache2/sites-available.

afterlogic.conf file content:
<VirtualHost *:80>
ServerName MY_WEBSERVER_IP;
DocumentRoot /var/lib/afterlogic;
ServerAdmin admin@domain.com;

ErrorLog ${APACHE_LOG_DIR}/afterlogic-error.log
CustomLog ${APACHE_LOG_DIR}/afterlogic-access.log combined

<Directory /var/lib/afterlogic>
      Options -Indexes
      AllowOverride All
      Order allow,deny
      allow from all
</Directory>
</VirtualHost>

Restarted the server, cleared the browser cache and it still displays 404 error. Any ideas how to fix it? Thank you.

If you open http://XX.XXX.XX.XX/afterlogic/ URL, does that take you to a login page? Also, in some configurations trailing slash may be required so try http://XX.XXX.XX.XX/afterlogic/adminpanel/ as well.

One more thing, make sure you've actually downloaded v9 of WebMail Lite, you can find the version number in VERSION file found in root directory of WebMail.

Hello!

I have tried to open http://XX.XXX.XX.XX/afterlogic/ URL, but the same issue:

Page Not Found
Oops! We couldn’t find the page that you’re looking for.
Please check the address and try again.
Error Code: 404

Afterlogic version is: 9.3.2.build7-build-a3

I think my afterlogic.conf above is wrong. Where I can find the working afterlogic.conf file? Thank you.

We provide Ubuntu/Debian package for WebMail Lite, the following Apache configuration file is placed during the installation:

Code:
Alias /afterlogic /usr/share/afterlogic
DirectoryIndex index.php
<Directory /usr/share/afterlogic/data>
    AllowOverride all
    Options +FollowSymLinks -Indexes
    deny from all
</Directory>
<Directory /usr/share/afterlogic>
    AllowOverride all
    Options +FollowSymLinks
    Order allow,deny
    allow from all
</Directory>

You'll probably need to adjust it to make it work with your server setup.

Hello!

Where exactly I have to put it on the server? In what location should it be?
Thank you very much.

Our installer places it under /etc/apache2/conf-available/ directory, and creates a symlink to it in /etc/apache2/conf-enabled/ directory.

Nope, it does not work. Still 404 error.

I think, some config file is still missing? What about nginx config for afterlogic? Thank you.

Well, this isn't really a matter of configuring our product, you need to configure your webserver correctly. The product should work just fine with both Nginx and Apache.

Ok. I have HestiaCP, phpMyAdmin, MySQL, RoundCube, PHP installed on my server. All of them are working without any issue. For some reason, the only issue is with Afterlogic installation.

Maybe the problem is with Afterlogic location on my server: /var/lib/afterlogic? What is the default path for Afterlogic when using your installer?

I have tried the default path: /usr/share/afterlogic, changed the config file and created the symlink again, rebooted the server, but it still displays 404 error.

You may wish to consider setting up the package from APT repository as shown here. That way, the product is automatically configured to work alongside Apache installation.

Judging from the installation log, it looks like you didn't have PHP enabled as Apache module or as PHP-FPM for Apache as those two are being installed. My guess is, your system doesn't use Apache as a primary webserver, that could actually be Nginx. Just a guess, of course. If you figure it out, please feel free to share the result here, just in case it may help other users.

From HestiaCP -> Web Server, it reports the following:

Proxy Server: nginx
Web Server: apache2
Backend Server: php-fpm

So, it is the nginx server? Thanks.

System PHP version: php-7.2.
This php version is required for my website. It is crucial for Afterlogic to use PHP 8.1?

We're not related to HestiaCP in any way, so we don't know. In all fairness, our method with APT repository is just for systems which run Apache.

Afterlogic WebMail can work just fine with PHP 7.2. Our installer doesn't actually require a specific version of PHP, that's up to APT package manager to decide which one's available for your system.

Ok. I have found 2 config files which set the server paths:

/etc/nginx/conf.d/XX.XXX.XX.XX.conf
/etc/apache2/conf.d/XX.XXX.XX.XX.conf

These files make the server load the default index.html from server IP http://XX.XXX.XX.XX/. This index.html file is located here: /var/www/html.

So, I must set the proper configuration to these files to make the Afterlogic open like this:

http://XX.XXX.XX.XX/afterlogic/adminpanel
http://XX.XXX.XX.XX/afterlogic

Any ideas what config should I enter there? Thanks.

I have created the /var/www/html/afterlogic/
And set it to this /etc/apache2/conf.d/XX.XXX.XX.XX.conf. Now, I get the following error:
Internal Server Error
Oops! Something went wrong.
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Error Code: 500

If someone has any ideas, feel free to reply. Thanks.

Well, I don't see how this is related to our product. Most likely, if you create a simple index.php script containing something like:

Code:
<?php phpinfo();

and place it into that location instead of our package content, there would be the same issue. As for Error 500, I'd recommend to check webserver error log to find out what's causing the problem.

Hello!

I have created the two test files: index.php with the following content:

<?php
echo phpinfo();
?>

index-1.php with this content:

<?php
echo "Hello!";
?>

Put them in: var/www/html/afterlogic

That's the problem, these 2 files work without any issue. When I remove these test files and put afterlogic files there, then it leads to this 500 error. So, I think it is related only to your project. I have spend 3 days for this issue. I will try one more method. If it does not work, than I will use Roundcube instead. Thanks.

OK, try removing .htaccess file from webmail directory - does the error go away?
