is it possible with the pro version to have a "registration"?

So as to have this program working publicly (have guests register and offer the email service)

There's an option in Common Settings screen of WebMail Pro Admin Panel: "Allow automatic registration of new users on first login". If you check this option, users will be able to create their accounts in WebMail Pro by simply logging in. Of course, the appropriate POP3/IMAP4 account should be available on mail server already as WebMail Pro works with existing mail server accounts only.

Additionally, WebMail Pro supports special integration API. It allows creating new WebMail Pro accounts as well as passing authentication data bypassing login screen. Thus, you can create your own signup and login pages for WebMail Pro.

Im not sure if im making myself clear.

I have a domain and i have SMTP enabled.

I wish for people to "register" through this program.

Will this program only insert into its database email accounts already on my server or will it be able to create the email accounts on my server and also insert the necessary data into its database?

No, it's not. It's only possible to signup for using WebMail Pro with existing email account.

WebMail Pro accesses mail server using standard protocols POP3/SMTP/IMAP, but none of those protocols supports creating email accounts, deeper mail server integration is required for this. WebMail Pro can be natively integrated with AfterLogic XMail Server Pro.

These products are shipped as a bundle, and it's possible to have public signup for new email accounts using this bundle.

Well, there are two scenarios actually:

1) You need to access existing email accounts with WebMail Pro.

2) You need to be able to create new email accounts with WebMail Pro.

In the 2nd case, this is only possible with AfterLogic XMail Server Pro.

Ive been trying to install it as root user with permissions set to 777 and still no luck.
