I'm still running version 4.8.13 of Webmail Lite from 2009 - yes really :) - and I'd like to upgrade to the latest version.

I appreciate that this isn't going to be an easy upgrade and that I'm probably going to have to do multiple interim upgrades to get there. But what's likely to be my easiest path in terms of interim versions ?

I see that 8.2.11-build-a3 can do an upgrade from 7, and I have downloaded v7.7.9 but is there a suggested way to upgrading v4.8 to that ?

Just install the new version from scratch. There is anyway not much data to migrate as the email stays on the mail server. So if you install the new version, your users will still be able to log in with their creds and access their mail.
