We have had a MailBee.net IMAP license key in use for some time now, and now when I try to run it locally, I am getting an exception that says "Imap component not licensed. LicenseKey is invalid. See documentation on MailBee.Global.LicenseKey property of the component for more information."

What are the circumstances under which my key would no longer be valid? Would it matter the version of the .dll?

 Thanks!

The first digit of license key, right after MN, should match the major version number of the DLL you use. For current version 7.*, license key should start with MN700. So if you have a license key which starts with MN600, that one can only be used with version 6.* of the product.
