I have a user, that whenever he logs into webmail, he gets an error at the top that says "Can't Save Message!" and his mail takes a while to show up.

The mail works fine, but he keeps getting the message every time, and it looks like from the size of his mail file on the server it's self, the mail never really makes it from the database to the folder (the sent items).

I'm running a Ubuntu 10.04 server, with Postfix and Dovecot. Running the PHP/Mysql version of AfterLogic Webmail.

Found some errors in the log file, however I've checked permissions on the files and created any of the files that didn't exist.

   > PHP-5.3.2-1ubuntu4.7, Apache/2.2.14 (Ubuntu)
[16:04:11.561] IMAP4: Can't select folder (INBOX.Drafts).
[16:04:11.561] IMAP4: Can't select folder (INBOX.Sent).
[16:04:11.562] IMAP4: Can't select folder (INBOX.Trash).

I'm at a loss for what to do, hopefully someone has some insight they offer.

Based on the log extract, I'd assume this has something to do with IMAP account
itself. Is it possible for you to check actual account structure for this
particular account? Looks like, for some reason, WebMail is trying to look for
INBOX subfolders but they're not there. I'd suggest to reassign proper locations
for IMAP folders using Manage Folder tool.

By the way, what version number do you currently run?

Igor,

Thanks for the response.

I'm not sure how to check version number, I flipped through the admin panel and through the settings and didn't see anything obvious, is it in the logs somewhere?

I did have this entry today, but I'm not sure if it has the after logic webmail version number in here.

[18/02/2011][10:04:11.670] INFORMATION:
   > [POST(4)] /upload.php
   > ver.5.1.7 [SERVER-IP:][USER-IP:]
   > PHP-5.3.2-1ubuntu4.7, Apache/2.2.14 (Ubuntu)
[10:04:11.670] exit text:

I am able to login to the IMAP server using other mail clients (Thunderbird, iPhone, Android Phone, MS Outlook 2007)

I haven't gotten any errors from those clients.

Other times when changing the folders I have ended up losing data, I'm thinking some of the mail is stored in the database that webmail uses, but it is not moved into the IMAP server, is it normal for those databases to get cleared when adjusting folders? Or was I doing something wrong in that specific situation.

Current (6.*) version of WebMail Pro does not store any mails in the database for IMAP accounts, it works
directly with IMAP server. You can check the version number as shown here.
And I assume you're right, the log shows version number too (5.1.7).

As for the older versions, this mainly depends on synchronization modes you have set for the IMAP folders.
If it's Don't Synchronize, the folder exists on webmail level only. You can read more on sync modes
here (does not apply to 6.* version).

I experienced same problem. It looks like the application needs write permission
to ./data directory and all its subdirectories. In my server (Ubuntu 10.10), I
change the owner of the ./data directtory to www-data :

$> cd /root/of/webmail
$> sudo chmod -Rf www-data:www-data ./data

Manda
