Hi there
Is it possible to add a icon next to each folder name?
i've kinda been able to do it but not 100% successful

That is skin-specific and is already available in some skins, check Barbie skin for example. Skin customization guidelines are available here.

Cool Thanks. never thought of looking in there
one thing i noticed it doesnt state.
where to change the font,color,size and background for
where it tells you how many messages is in the folder

Oh, you're probably speaking of the line at the very bottom? Well, that one is mentioned there I believe - check .wm_lowtoolbar class and all the other classes which start with "wm_lowtoolbar" in their names.
Things like this one are easily found using developer console built into several browsers and activated with F12 key. With Mozilla Firefox, you can use Firebug extension to have a handy console.
