I downloaded the installer in the .tar.gz format for cPanel and it's giving me an issue. On a side note, I have a question regarding the administrative side of things after I've figured this out.

I followed the steps from the guide to the dot. After I run the installer, it asks me for a password for root@localhost. I type my root password in and reprompts for another password. Same with the uninstall. Does this about 4 times before it says "failed".

Cheers

We've already received a few similar reports, probably something has changed in cPanel recently. Seems like it requests root MySQL user password, you can find it in /root/.my.cnf file.

We're currently in process of investigating the issue, and if it's possible to add a workaround to the installer itself, we'll do that of course.

It seems my root password was not set correctly. It installed correctly this time around, however, the installer did ask for the password 4 different times before it proceeded to install itself successfully.

My next question is in regards to the administrative side of things. From what I understand, the WebMail client stores an internal record of the user who logs in and from there, the user can be disabled / enabled at any given time which does not reflect the users cPanel webmail. Is this correct?

Also, is there a way to immediately direct users straight to the AfterLogic webmail login, bypassing the cPanel webmail authentication? I'd really like to abolish the cPanel webmail login entirely and have our employees immediately hit the AfterLogic WebMail login. Possibly a VirtualHost?

Last but not least, will we see some sort of integration for a "global" address book?

Cheers

WebMail Lite keeps track of user accounts in the database indeed, and it's possible to delete user account from WebMail subsequently, which would not affect email account itself, it will still be possible to access it with any other email client.

To achieve that, I'd suggest to install the product as a regular package instead of using cPanel installer, the same way you would install any other PHP application, to a web directory of a specific domain. You won't be able to use http://yourdomain.com/webmail/ path to it since it's reserved by cPanel itself, but using /mail/ or /email/ path should work just fine.

WebMail Pro offers personal-level features only. For those who require groupware solution, there's a different product largely based on WebMail Pro - AfterLogic Aurora. You should be able to install it on cPanel the way I described above, too.

You mean cPanel running on CentOS box, right? We've already located the core reason of the issue, the updated installer will become available in a few days.
