I have some problems with the upgrading Lite6 to Lite7 because the files settings.xml and config.php, and when i login i have a error "the username and password failed". I saw this message in forum: Version 7 of WebMail doesn't support POP3, only IMAP is supported. Sad as it is, using it with Hotmail is no longer an option by Igor is true?

In general case, it's strongly advised to setup a new version rather than upgrading existing one.
As for Microsoft email services, I believe they offer IMAP support now, you should be able to find IMAP settings within Outlook Web App.
