Hi All =
Installing MailSuite Pro - 5 user version -- OR -- MailSuite Pro 30-day Free trial version, same issue occurs. We get almost to the end, where it is "Installing IIS Virtual Dir..." and up pops an error message: applicationHost.config does not exist.
After I press OK (which is my only option) installation appears to complete. However, the next step offers me to launch the documentation and admin control panel, neither of which is installed and I get a 404 error, which makes sense considering the files are not there!
Nor can the doc or the admin panel be found by running them from the Start Menu.
This is on a brand new Windows 2008 R2 Std edition machine. Nothing else is on it, I just got it built last night. Also Administrator is the only login account so that can't be it.
Oddly, I get a completely different situation on XP Pro. It asks different questions (e.g, what port do I want)
Any suggestions?
Thanks!a

Most probably, the issue is caused by UAC standing in the way. For some reason, the installer was unable to locate important system file and thus have failed.
However, the error is thrown at the end of configuration process when both mailserver part and webmail interface are installed. Thus, just create IIS application and point it to WEBMAIL directory, that should do the trick.

this is the message i got from application event log of the server
The description for Event ID 0 from source XMail cannot be found. Either the
component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the
installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local
computer.
If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be
saved with the event.
The following information was included with the event:
XMail error: 6
{SetServiceStatus}: The handle is invalid. (0x6)

Is that exactly "always"? You can't even log into it, or it just fails in some particular situations?

That's a non-critical signal from XMail which is safe to ignore.

I'm having the same problem installing MailSuite Lite. Same error message
"applicationHost.config does not exists". The installer does not even create
the \inetpub\wwwroot\webmail directory. If I create it manually, the installer
does not put anything in it. I even tried giving write access to that directory
to "Everyone".
Manually creating the IIS application is not really an option, as there are no
files to point it to.
I tried disabling UAC, and running the installer "as administrator". That
didn't help either.
I have the same configuration as sipiptel: clean WS2008R2 machine, logged on as
domain administrator.

Indeed it doesn't and it's not supposed to. Webmail directory is found under:
Code:
C:\Program Files\AfterLogic MailSuite Lite\WEBMAIL\ |
|
|
And that's where you should be pointing the virtual dir and IIS app.
