Hi
I've installed Webmail Lite version 7.3.0.1 through Softaculous on my shared hosting but after two days of trial and error I give up and hope you guys can help me!

I always get error: "Error while connecting to mailserver" and when I check the logs they actually state "Authentication error"!
All the parameters are correct: mailserver, ports, account, passowrd...
I checked the forum and toggled the following on/off and logged in with or without domain info, also tried the login form: Login instead of Email but doesn't work
<UseLoginWithoutDomain>Off</UseLoginWithoutDomain>

Now, the crazy thing is: I can login using an older version of Webmail lite I found on some other domains that had the "Advanced login" option where you can specify the mailservers,ports POP or IMAP and where you have to enter email address as well as login name (both the same) and it works..... I can also connect with the same data using email clients such as evolutiuon on my desktop.

Any ideas?
Is there a way to enable Advanced login feature in the newest version?

Update:
I deinstalled and reinstalled it with softaculous and is now working properly.
The default values by Softaculous were not correct but I had corrected them later in the admin screen. However, that didn't seem to make it work. After reinstalling with the correct values (mailserver: mail.domain.com , not imap.domain.com , same for SMTP= mail.domain.com..... no SSL as well).
Well, many hours wasted but in the end there is at least a learning effect ;)

Thanks for sharing this. This seems to be the problem with the default configuration of WebMail Lite in Softaculous. As a Softaculous, you may let them know the details of your findings. Thanks!

Update 2:

Well, it stopped working again today. Authentication error! Same with the
roundcube install I made. Both worked fine yesterday, now both have IMAP authentication error. My hosting provider refuses to give support referring to
the working cpanel webmail........

Anyone any idea what could have changed on my shared server to cause the
AUTH ERROR ???? ... I didn't change anything myself...

First, you'll need to enable logging (in Admin panel). Then examine what your mail server reports. Maybe, it now requires SSL connection, or secure authentication, or authentication schema has changed (i.e. earlier it wanted username and now username@domain or vice versa), and so on.

Update:
Again, if I log into the account using a webmail lite log-in screen stored on another hoster then no problem (the ones with "Advanced Login" where you can sepcify mail servers...) but from webmail lite client stored on my own hoster I get authentication error as if I have blacklisted my own IP or domain???

The server isn't much informative -"Authentication failed" is everything we have. You'll need to examine the mail server's own logs or contact Dovecot vendor for assistance.
