I have webmail lite setup on its own server connecting to a postfix/dovecot mail server.
When I delete or move messages in webmail the change is reflected in any email client software I use to access the same email account.
When I move or delete messages from the email client the messages are not removed from webmail lite inbox. If I move messages they appear in the correct folder in webmail but do not get removed from the inbox so I am essentially duplicating messages in webmail.
I have tried multiple mail clients on different machines and they synchronise with each other properly but webmail lite does not.
Webmail Lite will not remove messages from Inbox when removed in mail client.
Help would be appreciated
Thank You

In world of IMAP clients, there are two different approaches for deleting mails. One of them assumes messages are marked as deleted, and then tool called Purge or Expunge is used to delete those permanently. Another approach is to move mails to Trash, and then delete from it. WebMail uses the 2nd approach only, while the other client you use probably utilizes the 1st one.
WebMail Lite has no Inbox on its own, it sees what IMAP server shows to it, so your other client doesn't seem to actually delete mails; maybe it marks them as Deleted, but WebMail would not reflect that status anyway. I'd suggest to check whether you can reconfigure IMAP behavior on that client, or use Purge/Expunge tools to delete mails there permanently.

I am using Apple Mail and Thunderbird Windows. I am pretty sure both clients move the deleted messages to the trash first then are deleted from there.
When I delete in Apple Mail or Thunderbird and then delete from Trash the message doesn't delete from Webmail.
If I move a message from Trash back to Inbox a second copy appears in Webmail Inbox.
If I keep moving back and forth from Trash back to Inbox I can end up with many copies of the same email in the Webmail Inbox.
Do you have a recommendation for a mail client that I can test with to see if webmail is behaving correctly?
Many Thanks

Can you confirm we're speaking of latest v7 of WebMail Lite PHP? I'm quite certain the behavior you've described is not possible there, simply because WebMail does not have mail storage on its own.
I'm not 100% sure about Thunderbird, but when it comes to Apple Mail, it has a special setting to sync changes with server; by default, it only deletes mail locally, not on IMAP.

Hi Igor
I have the same issue. When I delete a mail in iPhone or Thunderbird and then delete from Trash the message doesn't delete from Webmail and remains in inbox folder (without any mark or simbol that identifies the mail as deleted).
Is there a solution?
Thank You!

I don't really have anything to add to my previous messages here. If the message still shows up in WebMail inbox, it means it's still on IMAP server, so you need to check what's wrong with the behavior of other clients you use; emptying Trash doesn't guarantee the message is actually removed from the server.

No, not for the messages. Cache is only about the interface itself, not about the data you retrieve from mail server.
