You can change mailadm password in WebMail Administration Console / WebMail Settings / Password. The username "mailadm" can be changed only in source code.
Best regards,
Andrew

Not sure if I understood the question. Default password for mailadm is 12345, and you can reset it by modifying data/settings/settings.xml file, check AdminPassword line. Currently, WebMail Pro stores MD5 hash of password, but supplying plain password should work as well.

If you take a closer look, you'll find the reply is dated 5 years back, a lot of things changed since then
Currently, both login and password can be changed in settings.xml file, see AdminLogin and AdminPassword lines respectively.

Is this still a valid option for resetting the admin password? We're suddenly unable to login to webmail lite with the admin account or with our mail accounts. I've been attempting to reset the password using this method, with no success. I've even tried cracking the hash it has, as well as replacing the hash with a known hash.

Just to make sure there's no misunderstanding - those are two different things. You log into mail account from main page of WebMail Lite, but to log as admin, you need to navigate to URL which looks like http://yourdomain.com/webmail/adminpanel/ and use admin credentials there.
Current instructions for resetting password can be found at this documentation page.
