Now when you mentioned safe mode, it is more clear. While WebMail Pro is capable of working in this mode, it
is a major problem for dealing with attachments. Even if you change permissions to 777 it doesn't mean all
is OK. Turning safe mode off is strongly recommended, if it's possible for your hosting account of course.

Hi Igor,
I did get further problems which may be as a result of what you describe with safe mode (uploads were saved with 000 as their permissions although they were reported as complete on the upload status!!!!).
How do you recommend getting round this? The only reason I had a safe mode problem was becase I could not change permissions on the files created as apache:apache, so I deleted them and recreated them as my user and set the perms to 777. This threw the safe mode error. Would changing ownership back to apache:apache and setting perms to 777 fix this overall problem?
Thanks,
Simon.

WebMail Pro is not designed to run in PHP environment with safe mode enabled. If you run built-in installation
wizard of WebMail Pro, it will not let you through due to safe mode. You might try tweaking permissions but it
doesn't always help: even if you set directory permissions to 777, it doesn't mean new files would be created
with full permissions. Turning safe mode off seems to be the only effective way of dealing with this.

hi Igor,
How do you get around the permissions problem then? Is it enough to set the temp directories for each account and leave it with safe mode off, or will I still see files created with the wrong/unsuable permissions (like 000)?
Ta,
Simon

Most probably, new files would inherit permissions from the folders they're placed to. Thus, as long as you have
set 777 for the data folder recursively, and the safe mode is off, you shouldn't have those issues any more.
